Established over 80 years ago, the London-based Engineering Industries Association (EIA) is renowned for being a strong and resilient association with the core purpose to provide information and services to assist UK-based SME manufacturing and engineering companies across the sector to run their businesses.
This membership organisation consists of members that offer capacity in subcontract and supply chain services across the network in the UK and globally. The EIAleads the initiative where UK buyers and sellers can network to ‘reshore’ their products and services.
The EIA network assists the engineering-based manufacturing sector by connecting businesses with members offering capacity in a vast range of subcontract or supply chain services, such as precision machined-parts, castings and forgings, coatings, mechatronic and electronic design and assembly, plus a whole lot more, including products and services required by manufacturers across the sector.
The EIA works tirelessly to help its members thrive which in return creates a manufacturing and engineering community delivering excellence that competes with the best in the world.
A few years ago, the EIA become part of the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), which also includes Additive Manufacturing UK, the MACH exhibition and The Engineering Supply Chain Show. This move has enabled EIA to offer an abundance of new and enhanced benefits to its members with an aim to make the UK engineering sector stronger.
The EIA offers an extensive portfolio of member benefits that include delivery of industry intelligence, the Engineering Supply Chain Show within MACH, networking and events, Government liaison, and business support. These benefits provide members with regular market intelligence comprising the latest news, trade leads and inter-trade opportunities, enabling the development of successful sales strategies. Meet the EIA team and its members at the Engineering Supply Chain Show
The recently established Engineering Supply Chain Show is one of the initiatives of the EIA. Taking place at the NEC in Birmingham between 15-19 April 2024, the ESC Show is held within MACH, with direct access into the main MACH exhibition halls. The entry badge for the events entitles visitors to free access to both shows.
This biennial show enables the EIA to offer its members and the wider manufacturing and engineering industry unparalleled networking opportunities with key industry leaders, decision makers and buyers. They will be able to experience the latest cutting-edge products and services offered by well-known exhibitors. The five-day show also includes an inspiring seminar programme which will explore the issues facing UK engineering-based manufacturing. With insightful discussions, the sessions will be led by top economists, entrepreneurs and thought leaders.
This show is a perfect platform for companies operating within the UK’s diverse engineering supply chain where they have a fantastic opportunity to showcase their outstanding skills and capabilities to potential supplies.

One of the 2024 event exhibitors is Surrey-based Drill Service (Horley) Ltd, which is a supplier of diverse range of cutting tools to the varied requirements of its customers. As a longstanding EIA member, Drill Service had not exhibited for about 20 years, but it was eager to be part of the 2022 show.
Hector Worsley, the third generation of his family to head up the business, said: “We are so glad that we decided to exhibit because we really benefitted from the experience. We now want to build on what we achieved in 2022, which is why we have signed up to the 2024 show.”
He added: “In addition to showcasing our capabilities to visitors, we’ll also be looking to forge links with other suppliers as well as keep an eye on the competition. The show is also a great opportunity to highlight issues companies might be having, as well as sourcing solutions and generating new leads.”
